To enrich campus cultural life, enhance aesthetic and patriotic education, and foster a sense of collectivism, the International Institute of Creative Design (IICD) successfully held the Youthful Melodies, Dreams Set Sail Freshmen Choral Singing Contest and Changning Campus Top Ten Singers Competition on 18 November. Distinguished guests invited to judge the competition included Professor Chen Lihua, former Vice President of Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES); Professor Yang Shuwen, Artistic Director and Resident Conductor of the Children's Art Troupe Chorus of the China Children's Charity Foundation; Li Yunxian, Party Secretary of the School of Art and Design, and Ma Jianli, Deputy Party Secretary; Huang Jingshi, Party Branch Secretary of IICD's Faculty and Staff; and Miao Chong, runner-up of SUES Campus Top Ten Singers Competition for the 2023 academic year.
Contestants presented an audiovisual feast to the audience through their outstanding talent and passion for music. Waves of enthusiastic applause and cheers from students echoed throughout the event, creating a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere. Professor Chen Lihua gave a heartfelt performance of Good Morning, SUES Campus and Building the Chinese Dream Together, bringing warmth and vitality to the venue. After a series of exciting and outstanding performances, Chen Yingzheng won the championship, Huang Yixin and Li Haoxun secured second place, while An Bingxuan, Qi Ailing, and Li Jia'en jointly achieved third place. Professor Chen Lihua and Professor Yang Shuwen presented awards to the winners.
The choral competition consisted of two parts: patriotic songs and self-selected pieces. Based on judges' scores, one first prize, one second prize, and two third prizes were awarded to the best performing classes. Li Yunxian presented certificates to the winning classes.
With passionate melodies and enthusiastic applause, the competition concluded successfully. The resonant singing voices, like powerful musical notes, left a deep impression on both teachers and students, celebrating strong patriotic sentiments and igniting boundless enthusiasm for the country.
