On 11 December, the leadership team from the International Institute of Creative Design (IICD) visited the Shanghai Ceramic Science and Art Museum and the New Era Red Ceramic Art Museum for research and study. They were warmly received by Mr Cai Nianrui, Director of the Shanghai Ceramic Science and Art Museum.
Mr Cai provided a detailed introduction to the museum's historical background, exhibition layout, and ceramic artworks currently on display. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including the current situation and development trends of ceramic art, the integration of ceramic art with revolutionary red culture, approaches for serving society, and the direction and key priorities of disciplinary development.
The ceramic artworks showcased at the Shanghai Ceramic Science and Art Museum not only illustrated the distinctive charm of ceramic art, but also demonstrated the exquisite techniques and artistic innovation behind modern ceramic craftsmanship. Meanwhile, the New Era Red Ceramic Art Museum’s series of revolutionary-themed ceramic works vividly portrayed the Communist Party’s glorious journey and heroic deeds of revolutionary martyrs. These pieces not only possess high artistic value and cultural significance, but also carry profound historical and educational meanings.
This research visit broadened the artistic horizons of the institute's faculty and deepened mutual exchanges and cooperation, injecting fresh vitality into the institute's future educational and teaching activities. Faculty members expressed their intention to incorporate insights gained from this visit into their teaching and research, actively exploring educational reforms and innovations in ceramic design, and further contributing to the cultivation of more art and design talents with international vision and innovation capabilities.
