On the morning of 5 December, a delegation from the International Institute of Creative Design (IICD), led by Dean Professor Gu Yi and comprising key teaching staff, postgraduate supervisors, and laboratory instructors, visited the College of Creative Studies at Shanghai Theatre Academy for an exchange and training session. The aim of the visit was to foster academic communication and cooperation between the two institutions, and to explore innovative approaches in postgraduate education and laboratory construction. Professor Tie Zhong, Vice Dean of the College of Creative Studies, warmly received the delegation and accompanied them throughout the visit.
The delegation initially toured the multifunctional laboratories and teaching spaces at the College of Creative Studies, personally experiencing interactive demonstrations at the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Multimedia Performing Arts Virtual Space Synthesis. Professor Tie Zhong provided a detailed introduction to the laboratory's establishment process and its recent research achievements in interactive design, digital cultural heritage, and future-oriented image technologies. He pointed out that rapid developments and cost reductions in virtual reality technology have opened up numerous possibilities in art exhibitions, immersive experiences, and interactive design, highlighting the extensive prospects of deep integration between technology and art.
During the subsequent discussion, Professor Tie Zhong shared valuable experiences regarding the College's talent cultivation system, curriculum design, and innovative practices at the forefront of art education. He emphasised the importance of aligning closely with contemporary demands, focusing on key areas for development, and supporting students and industry through interdisciplinary collaboration and deeper cooperation with industry sectors.
This exchange provided valuable insights for the International Institute of Creative Design, particularly in postgraduate education methodologies, laboratory construction, and curriculum optimisation. Moving forward, IICD will continue to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with universities and industries both domestically and internationally, continuously advancing the high-quality development of design education.
